Monday, October 11, 2010MEAP Schedule
Welcome to MEAP Weeks! Every child in BCS is tested. 3rd graders take Reading and Math. 4th graders take Reading, Writing, and Math. When we test, the kids are in my room with half of our class--the grade not being tested during that block has a rotation of activities in the Media Center. Having 13-14 kids in the room provides a calm environment for the kids and allows us to proctor well.
Posted below is the schedule of who tests when:
Tuesday, Oct. 12: Reading (grades 3 and 4)
Wednesday, Oct. 13: Reading (grades 3 and 4)
Thursday, Oct. 14: Writing (grade 4)
Tuesday, Oct. 19: Math (grades 3 and 4)
Wednesday, Oct. 20: Writing (grade 4)
Make-up testing on all other days through Friday, October 29th for kids who were absent on the above days.
What should you do at home to help your child do well?
Early bedtime--get at least 10 hours of sleep (which doctors recommend for kids this age every day anyway)
Healthy, big breakfast (there is NO food allowed in MEAP rooms)
Pack two healthy snacks and a great reading book
Get to school on time--testing begins by 8:30 every day.
If you have any questions, please email me.
Tonight's Homework:
Bring a GREAT book to read and two healthy snacks.
Sleep and be on time.
Read at least 20/30 minutes
Practice math facts for at least 15 minutes
3rd Grade: Practice math facts.
4th math: Finish math review. Test on Friday
Dates to remember
3/4 Coney Bingo Night …It's a yearly tradition!
Date: October 15 6:30-8pm
Location: BCS Cafeteria
Loads of prizes, food and fun!
$5.50 per person payable at the door.
RSVP in advance to Kathleen Mastrangelo at ciao.andiamo@yahoo.com
